Updating Herndon’s Preservation Guidelines
The Town of Herndon has contracted with Work Program Architects and Commonwealth Preservation Group to update the Herndon Heritage Preservation Overlay District Design Guidelines, develop a Heritage Preservation Review Board manual, and produce training and public education materials.
The consultant team will hold public outreach sessions to gather input from the community, which will then be incorporated into new documents that clearly describe and illustrate preservation practices.
While developing the new guidelines, the team will develop a manual for the Heritage Preservation Review Board (HPRB) members and Town staff to follow to help guide their decision making process.
The final part of the project is training HPRB members, Town staff, and Town Council members in using the new guidelines as well as educating the public about how the guidelines impact them and how they can best adhere to the new policies.
